From Portugal. Always eager to learn.
My name is Duarte Palancha and currently am a mechanical engineering master’s student at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft).
I have always been a curious person who wanted to understand the underlying reasons why something is the way it is. This, combined being interested in methods of transportation for as long as I can remember, made me choose my major 3 years and I could not be happier. Along the way I also discovered that I love programming (despite not considering myself an expert at it), whether it being to code a CFD solver from scratch or to track my basic finances and keep track of my favourite recipes.
One of my best memories from my early childhood comes from sitting down in the living room with my father in the evening to watch whatever is on television. Since I had no control over the remote, I would often just watch what my father wanted at the time. Thankfully, this was always a mixture of some sort of documentary about space, nature or history. In retrospect, I see this as the spark in my current passion for science and engineering and for that I am eternally thankful.

Despite my major, some of my interests lie in cooking with my family and girlfriend, watching romance movies, listening to the most relaxing house music one can imagine and playing sports on a daily basis, whether it be indoor or beach handball or going to the gym with some friends.
I’m someone who really tries their hardest in everything they do. If my parents and my 12 years of playing competitive handball have taught me is that commitment is everything and there is no other option than trying my best in what I do. This can be seen in my academics, in the way I do sports and in the way I approach my personal relationships, which are the most important aspect of my life.
Having this said, here are some beautiful pictures which reflect some of my dearest friendships and relationships, as I believe I am a product of these.
